The Institute was co-founded by the Mr. Dineshbhai Mody in loving memory of his beloved son Late Shri Alkeshbhai D. Mody, who was a dynamic stockbroker and noble soul. The Institute was established in 1994, as a Department of the University of Mumbai, offering management education with a focus of financial services.The 'Alkesh Dinesh Mody Institute for Financial and Management Studies' is an institute of the 'University of Mumbai'. The University has two management institutes namely 'Jamnalal Bajaj Institute of Management Studies' and 'Alkesh Dinesh Mody Institute for Financial and Management Studies'. It was established in 1994 and offers under-graduate (B.M.S), post-graduate (M.M.S in the specialization of Marketing, Finance, HR, Operations and Systems) and part-time (M.F.S.M) programmes. Recently, it has introduced a Ph.D programme in management. It is a full-fledged management institute located at the University of Mumbai's, kalina campus.
